In her doctoral dissertation, M.Sc. (Tech.) Suvi Peltoketo investigated congestion management in electricity grid, with a particular focus on outage planning and market-based mechanisms. The key results of the work include new methods for estimating and managing congestion caused by planned grid outages, improved utilization of flexible resources, and the design of a new common congestion management flexibility market for transmission and distribution system operators, which is currently being piloted in Finland. The proposed solutions support transmission and distribution system operators in achieving cost-efficient congestion management and help them make more effective use of the existing electricity grid as well as flexible generation, consumption, and electricity storage systems connected to the grid.
The doctoral dissertation of M.Sc. (Tech.) Suvi Peltoketo in the field of electrical engineering titled Congestion Management in Electricity Transmission System Operation: Focus on outage planning and market-based mechanisms will be publicly examined at the Faculty of Information Technology and Communication Sciences at Tampere University on Friday 8 May 2026.
The Opponent will be Professor Matti Lehtonen from Aalto University. The Custos will be Professor Sami Repo from the Faculty of Information Technology and Communication Sciences, Tampere University.
