In his doctoral dissertation in photonics, Jussi Rossi introduces a broadband photoacoustic optical power measurement method capable of detecting electromagnetic radiation from visible light to millimeter wavelengths. The method enables a single universal detector to replace multiple specialized photodetectors while achieving high sensitivity and a wide dynamic range. In addition, his work presents a photoacoustic gas spectrometer using an external gas cell, improving gas identification and enabling measurements of flowing gases across a wide range of wavelengths.

The doctoral dissertation of MSc (Tech) Jussi Rossi, in the field of Photonics, titled Broadband Photoacoustic Optical Power Detection and Its Application to Gas Spectroscopy, will be publicly examined at the Faculty of Engineering and Natural Sciences at Tampere University.

The Opponent will be Associate Professor Karol Krzempek from Wroclaw University of Science and Technology, Poland. The Custos will be Senior Research Fellow Markku Vainio from the Faculty of Engineering and Natural Sciences, Tampere University.
