Oma esittely

I'm a Data Scientist with a background in Biology, which I studied in Germany. I have a PhD in Molecular Plant Physiology and moved into bioinformatics in 2005, when I started to work in Finland. I'm working in the Computational Biology group, where I'm mostly involved in cancer research-related projects.

Työtehtävät

My role comprises research support in terms of data management and analysis, and infrastructure development and maintenance. Infrastructure in a data-related context includes computing environments, high-throughput analysis pipelines, shared resources and large biomedical datasets.

In addition to my duties as Staff Scientist and complementing my support role I am a support person in the FinnGen local analysis support network. The local support network has been created as a resource for knowledge and timely in-person help, as well as a framework for promoting FinnGen resources and their usage. The “support persons” will provide relevant information to researchers in their local communities who are planning to use FinnGen resources, and help with accessing and using those in a productive way. Support in this context is not limited to technical or administrative aspects but meant to also encompass experiment-related questions helping researchers to plan the data analysis tasks as part of their project.
