Resilience and future belief

Tampere University of Applied Sciences
Duration of project1.10.2018–31.12.2020

The objective of the Resilience and Future Belief project is to develop and disseminate new approaches in vocational institutions to prevent students’ dropouts and to support study progress and transition to education or working life. The aim of this project is to guarantee equal opportunities for all young people and to promote social inclusion and justice. The core results of the project are a digital service and support need indicator and a tool for documentation of the approaches. The tools can be used for evaluating effectiveness of the used methods. During the project, approaches will be developed to help students’ progress and prevent dropouts in studies, as well as to support transition to further studies or working life.

Goal

The aim of the Resilience and Future Belief project is to recognise which factors hinder students’ learning and motivation to plan their future. This project will help teachers and guidance counsellors to find students with troubles in their studies. Problems connected to students’ mental or social resilience or poor agency can be difficult to recognise. The TOTEEMI project produced questions and related criteria which can be utilised during counselling sessions. In this project the criteria will be transformed into a digital tool that measures students‘ need for services and support. We call this tool service and support need indicator.
