Glue4Life - Next generation bioinks for printing life

Tampere University
Duration of project1.1.2022–31.3.2024
Area of focusHealth

3D bioprinting technology is emerging to the field of tissue engineering and regenerative medicine. Bioprinting is a promising technology for the fabrication of living tissues and organs, which can revolutionize the diagnosis and treatment of various medical conditions in future.  Bioink, that is the material that is actually printed, is one of the main technology challenges in the 3D bioprinting of cell-laden human tissues and organs. The current commercially available bioinks have huge technological gaps limiting their use in 3D bioprinting and clinical applications. Our patent pending solution, Glue4Life, is a next-generation bioink for printing life. Glue4Life is designed for printing living tissues and organs to be used in future clinical regenerative medicine solutions. Here, we prepare the commercialization of Glue4Life bioink and carry out applied research which support the commercialization. Several potential routes for commercialization of bioink are explored. The new business pursued for Glue4Life is estimated to be significant in scope with increasing market opportunity.
