Evidence-based health promotion at work (Promo@Work)

Tampere University

In this project, our well-being at work research group focuses on the following thematic areas:

1) We are involved in the development of a mobile application for micro-entrepreneurs and carrying out a nationwide campaign for recruiting micro-entrepreneurs to participate in an intervention study. In cooperation with other research partners we investigate the effects of the use of the application on recovery from work and lifestyle.

2) We are involved in producing evidence-based guidelines for workplace health promotion.

3) We produce guidelines for promoting entrepreneurs recovery from work, well-being at work and healthy lifestyle.

4) We systematically review previous studies to identify which factors are associated with entrepreneurs´ well-being at work.

Goal

The aim of the project is to produce evidence-based guidelines for workplace health promotion. Using the Behaviour Change Wheel framework, we will analyse the current state of Finnish workplace health promotion (WHP) policies and programmes. Core aspects of the project will include tailoring WHP practices for occupation-based groups, locating the best counselling practices currently in use, developing persuasive technologies to support and sustain motivation for change, and examining the economic indicators of successful WHP activities. We develop an evidence-based mobile application, which focuses on promoting workplace health of micro entrepreneurs. The evidence-based WHP guidelines will be co-created with researchers, stakeholders and actors.
