EBUSE – Economic Abuse from a Lifespan Perspective

Tampere University
Duration of project1.10.2025–31.12.2027

The EBUSE project produces research-based knowledge on economic abuse across the life course: in childhood, adulthood and later life.

The project examines:

  • the forms of economic abuse in different stages of life,
  • the support needs of those who have experienced economic abuse and the functioning of service and justice systems,
  • fraud as a form of economic abuse and crime, and
  • the challenges and opportunities related to addressing different forms of economic abuse.

Based on the research findings, the project develops effective practices to support those affected by economic abuse and to strengthen the service system.

The research consortium consists of the University of Turku, Tampere University and the University of Eastern Finland. The project brings together researchers from the fields of social work, psychology, social policy and criminology.
