Marita Husso

I am professor of social policy at Tampere University. I am Principal Investigator of the Challenges of Tackling Digital Violence Against Women in Police Work, Crime Process and Support Services research project (DIGNITEAS, Government’s analysis, assessment and research activities 2022-2023), Principal Investigator and vice director of the Encountering and addressing digital violence in social services and health care research project (DigiSOS STM VTR 2023-2025), Principal Investigator in the WP5, Policy recommendations, in Innovative Solutions to Eliminate Domestic Abuse project (ISEDA, HORIZON-CL3-2021-FCT-0, 2022-2025). Recent years I have been the director of ERASE GBV Education and Raising Awareness in Schools to Prevent and Encounter Gender-Based Violence -EU project (Rights, Equality and Citizenship Programme, 2020-2022). My other recent research projects include Coronavirus Epidemic in Experiences of Domestic Violence and the Use of Services Tampere University research group (KOVÄ, Parliament of Finland 2020-2021) and Encountering Domestic Violence and Multi-Professional Cooperation among the Police and Social and Health Care Professionals (European Commission, JUST/2016/ RGEN/AG/VAWA) research group. 

My research interests include violence and silencing in the digital age as a threat to democracy, gender-based technology-facilitated violence, vulnerability, social justice, gendered agency, emotions and affects. My recent research considers e.g. the vulnerability caused by digital violence, ideological, institutional and affective practices of bypassing and ignoring violence in everyday life, as well as advanced technological and social solution to tackle violence and foster sustainable wellbeing.
