Cellular Biophysics

Mechanical forces and physical properties of the extracellular environment co-regulate fundamental cellular processes like proliferation, cell migration, tissue development and differentiation. Cellular Biophysics group focuses especially on force transduction and force sensing in different cells and how these phenomena influence cell behaviour.

Research focus and goals

Our groups aims to deepen the understanding on the effects of cellular mechanics on physiology of the cells.

We are working in close collaboration with the research groups of Academy of Finland Research fellow Soile Nymark, associate professor Vesa Hytönen and professor Jari Hyttinen.
