

Reza Jafari
About me
I am a materials scientist and Postdoctoral Research Fellow at Tampere University, working at the interface of surface engineering, microstructural characterization, and durability of engineering materials. My research focuses on extending the lifetime of components through microstructural engineering, advanced coating technologies, and post-processing routes that can be connected to real industrial needs. I work with cold spray, thermal spray, wear, corrosion, cavitation erosion, and advanced microscopy-based characterization. Beyond the formal research questions, I see microstructural characterization as a personal curiosity and visual practice: looking deeper into materials, interpreting their hidden structures, and gradually building an image archive that I hope to shape one day into an art gallery of microstructures.
