Teaching to be largely delivered remotely at Tampere University from the beginning of 2022 to 16 January (updated on 23 Dec with information about SportUni’s closure)

The Finnish government has decided that universities and universities of applied sciences will switch to online teaching until 16 January 2022. This recommendation does not apply to essential in-person teaching. Wearing a face mask is required in the indoor facilities of Tampere University.

Tampere University’s Covid guidance has been updated to reflect the latest guidelines issued by the government. The goal is to ensure the continuity of operations and students’ ability to graduate. It is very important that all the members of our community continue to behave responsibly.

Tampere Universities has issued the following further guidelines:

Face masks

Wearing a face mask is required in the indoor facilities of Tampere University. As of 10 January 2022, face masks will be available at the main entrances of the campus buildings.  Hand sanitiser, tongs and face masks will be available in an easily accessible location near the main entrances.

Teaching

Teaching will largely be delivered remotely until 16 January 2022. However, essential in-person classes can continue to be organised, such as laboratory classes, simulation classes, teacher training and small group sessions. The faculties will provide more detailed instructions. Face masks are required during all in-person classes. Masks will be available to students in the venue.

Public events and doctoral defences

Public events cannot be held in the facilities of Tampere Universities. Doctoral defences, which fall into the category of public events, must be organised in a virtual format. The event restrictions will remain in place until 16 January 2022.

SportUni

SportUni’s facilties will be closed from 25 December 2021 to 7 January 2022 in accordance with the guidelines issued by the Regional State Administrative Agency for Western and Inland Finland. (Updated on 23 December.)
