Tampere University of Applied Sciences and TAMK’s Students' Union Tamko opened a donation account for the Finnish Red Cross’ Disaster Relief Fund to which all TAMK members and our stakeholders can donate for the benefit of victims of the Ukrainian war.

Donations can also be given on TAMK’s campus to the Finnish Red Cross’ collection boxes.

"We were thinking about how we at TAMK and Tamko together with students could help civilians in the war zone," TAMK’s President Tapio Kujala says.

The entire Finnish higher education community condemns Russia’s military operations in Ukraine. In accordance with the Ministry of Education and Culture’s decision on 9 March, TAMK immediately froze its higher education and research cooperation and exchange programmes with Russia.

Kujala emphasises that TAMK is an equal community in which no harassment is tolerated. Citizens of Russia and other countries continue to be treated equally at TAMK as applicants, students and employees.

"We do our best so that the side effects of the Ukrainian war would not be seen in the everyday life of our university of applied sciences. We also hope that it would not affect our students’ practical training places and all students regardless of their nationality would be treated equally," Kujala says.

"The objective of EUR 20,000 may sound ambitious but in relation to the number of persons in the TAMK community – almost 700 staff members and 11,000 students – it is not so large anymore," Kujala states.
