The annual MET Research Day hosted by the Faculty of Medicine and Health Technology presents the faculty’s multidisciplinary research and offers an opportunity for networking. The event will be arranged on the Kauppi campus on 30 November – 1 December 2023.

The annual MET Research Day bring together students and researchers in clinical medicine, cell and molecular biology, biophysics and biomedical informatics and engineering.

The programme includes speeches by the faculty’s own researchers and international top experts. The keynote speakers include, among others, Pavel Tomancak from the Max Planck Institute of Molecular Cell Biology and Genetics and Teresa Coque from the Ramón y Cajal Institute for Health Research.

In his speech, Tomancak will talk about the secrets of the dynamic interaction between gene regulation and tissue mechanics. Coque, on the other hand, will give a presentation on the threat posed by antimicrobial resistance and ways to respond to it. In addition, Kati Kristiansson, Director of Research and Development at the wellbeing services county of Pirkanmaa, will talk about the significance of cooperation between Tampere University Hospital and Tampere University and its high points.

The programme of the MET Research Day also includes a networking event for business partners arranged by the Faculty of Medicine and Health Technology and the Council of Tampere Region. The business afternoon focuses on the opportunities for cooperation between researchers and businesses. RDI will be talked about by Founder and Chief Technology Officer Petteri Uusimaa from Modulight and Julius Sipilä, Discovery Data Technology Lead from Orion.

The aim of the Research Day is to present and improve MET faculty’s multidisciplinary research, create collaboration networks and to increase interaction with the field of biomedicine.

“The MET Research Day has developed into a truly significant event. Posters and oral presentations presented during the event provide an excellent picture of the research carried out at the MET faculty. At the same time, the event is also a great opportunity to network with other researchers and business operators,” says Seppo Parkkila, Dean of the Faculty.

The event will be arranged in the Arvo building on the Kauppi campus on 30 November – 1 December 2023.

Everyone interested in MET’s research is welcome to attend this event.
