Marja Sutela appointed Chair of Unifi's network of Vice Presidents for Education

Marja Sutela, Vice President for Education at Tampere University, has been nominated as the new chair of Unifi's network of education vice presidents. Her two-year term of office will begin in January 2024.

Universities Finland Unifi promotes national cooperation between universities and highlights their common positions on key research and education policy issues. At the beginning of 2024, Marja Sutela, Vice President for Education at Tampere University, will start to chair Unifi’s national network of Vice Presidents for Education.

“The chairship of the network is an excellent vantage point into national education policy and the development of university education. I am very happy to accept this position of trust because it is a significant and very interesting post,” Sutela says.

In spring 2024, the agenda of the Vice Presidents for Education includes, for example, the entrance exam reform and developing digital entrance exams. 

Sutela has worked as Vice President for Education at Tampere University since 2019. She is responsible for leading the University’s Education and Continuous Learning unit. She has previously worked as Vice President of Tampere University of Applied Sciences. In addition, she has held the positions of professor, associate professor, and researcher of public law at the Universities of Joensuu, Tampere, and Lapland. Sutela is also a docent of public law at the Universities of Vaasa and Eastern Finland.
