Wiki workspaces
Wiki is a website with content, i.e. pages, that the users can easily edit. Thanks to the editing options and community-oriented approach, you can create and share meeting records, instructions or notes with other people in the wiki. The site is divided into workspaces, to which different kinds of reading or editing rights can be granted to groups or specific persons.
Wiki has two kinds of workspaces: public and personal. Content related to projects or teams, for example, can be shared in the public workspaces. The personal workspaces are mainly intended for the users’ own needs, such as making personal notes.
Ordering a public wiki workspace
Order a public wiki workspace from it-helpdesk [at] tuni.fi (.)
The order must include the following information:
- A workspace name that is as simple and descriptive as possible.
- The TUNI email address(es) of the person(s) responsible for the workspace.
- The TUNI email addresses of the workspace users, to whom access rights to the workspace are granted. If necessary, the users can be found based on the course unit implementation code or administrative group.
Requesting or changing the access rights to a workspace
Some of the materials in the wiki are only intended for a limited group, and browsing them requires the appropriate access rights. If you cannot access the desired page despite being a member of the group in question, follow these instructions:
- Request access rights by sending an email to it-helpdesk [at] tuni.fi and stating which workspace you should be able to access and why.
- In most cases, Helpdesk will direct you to the person(s) responsible for the workspace, and they will grant you the necessary access rights. In some cases, the necessary access rights to the material you requested will be granted directly by Helpdesk.
PLEASE NOTE!
Access rights to the TUNI wiki can also be granted to representatives of other higher education institutions. Instructions for representatives of other higher education institutions:
- Sign into the TUNI wiki first with the user name of your own higher education institution by selecting “HAKA-kirjautuminen” (HAKA sign-in)
- Then request access rights by sending an email to it-helpdesk [at] tuni.fi and stating which workspace or materials you should be able to access and why
- In most cases, Helpdesk will direct you to the person(s) responsible for the workspace, and they will grant you the necessary access rights. In some cases, the necessary access rights to the material you requested will be granted directly by Helpdesk.
Why? The user name of a person from another higher education institution will only be added to the wiki platform in connection with their first HAKA sign-in; the access rights to the desired material can only be granted to the user name in question after the first sign-in.
