Student Ambassador Mihn Pham, originally from Vietnam, moved to Finland for his TAMK studies.

How long have you been in Tampere and what brought you here originally?

I moved here for my studies, over two years ago.

What subject do you study and how did you choose it?

I selected Media and Arts Bachelor's Degree, with a specialisation in Fine Arts. Tampere University of Applied Sciences was the only school that offered an English-speaking Degree Programme in this field when I came here. I chose to study Media and Arts mainly because of my passion for motion picture, filmmaking and animation.

How would you describe Tampere as a student city?

Tampere is the perfect city to live as a student. The city itself is lively and vibrant, but not as rushed as the Metropolitan area. You have lovely cafés and huge shopping centres as well as the nature, the fresh air and the clean water of Näsijärvi. The city is a student-friendly city thanks to the Tampere Universities community. You feel truly international here with a great connection to the capital area. Finns are friendly and innovative, and incredible to be friends with!

Have you had memorable successes / epic failures in settling in Tampere?

My achievements are to perform well both academically and socially. I'm on my way to graduate earlier than expected while enjoying and experiencing the creative life and learning process.

To whom would you recommend Tampere as a place to study and why?

It is the right place for everyone. All are welcome here!
