Tampere University of Applied Sciences

Approximately 150 specialists and more than 2,800 students work and study in our school. We offer extensive social services and health care education in bachelor’s and master’s degrees as well as diverse continuous learning services, such as continuing and further education. We participate in development of social and health care education and competences.

Our degree programmes are international. It is possible to participate in student exchanges and international cooperation during the studies. We organise the Degree Programme in Nursing both in Finnish and English.

We use active teaching methods and evidence-based information as well as strengthen international competences. We invest in use and development of new digital technology in social and health care in cooperation with the engineering field.

We participate in several national and international working life research and development projects. The projects focus on future competence needs in the field of social services and health care. Brain health and genomic knowledge are among our key substance fields

We build multidisciplinary cooperation through social services and health care education, projects and partnerships and thus develop regional competence. Practical training is an important part of studies in social services and health care degrees. During training periods, students develop their competences and working life skills. Our students also research and develop working life practices in connection with bachelor’s and master’s theses under the supervision of teachers.

Our staff’s expertise encompasses different fields of social services and health care with focus on promotion of health, wellbeing and involvement. Our professionals’ expertise can be seen in degree programme education, research and development projects and continuous learning services.

Our key competence fields include:

diagnostic services; medical use of radiation and laboratory test processes in health care
expertise in key competence areas of nursing, public health nursing, midwifery and emergency care
research, development and expert competence in fields of wellbeing technology, clinical expertise, health promotion and management of health care and social services as well as use of data expertise and artificial intelligence in health care
movement, functional ability and different fields of rehabilitation and physiotherapy
competence and service counselling in early childhood education, child welfare, social work with adults, the elderly and the disabled and mental health and substance abuse work

Our eyes are on future competence needs. Our operational focus is on continuous development of the above-mentioned fields together with working life.
