Student Ambassador Linda Dahlström, originally from Turku, moved to Tampere for the opportunity to study in an international environment.

How long have you been in Tampere and what brought you here originally?

I have been in Tampere for over a year now. I moved here to study International Business at Tampere University of Applied Sciences.

What subject do you study and how did you choose it?

I follow the Bachelor's degree Programme in International BusinessDuring high school, I was interested in International Business among other things. I have always liked the English language and meeting people from other cultures. During my third gap year, I decided to apply for TAMK’s degree in International Business. I liked that TAMK has many specialization modules. I was mostly interested in HR and Innovation Management & Business Development. I also had heard that Tampere is a big student city, and of course, I liked that Tampere is close to my hometown.

How would you describe Tampere as a student city?

Tampere is a very beautiful and lively city where you can find so many students. We have everything for everyone, and I think no one can get bored here. This city is also very international because we have many international degree students and exchange students. Finally, ou can enjoy the beautiful nature here!

Have you had issues settling in Tampere? How did you overcome difficulties?

Moving to Tampere felt like a big change to me. I moved to a different city where I didn't know anyone and I started studying after three gap years. I was excited and a little worried at the same time. I was worried I would not feel like home in Tampere and my studies might not be what I expected. Gladly, I was proved wrong. Everyone is so friendly and the teachers are very supportive. I have enjoyed my studies a lot so far. I got along with my flatmates and that helped me settle in. Even though everything was new, I kept a positive mindset and told myself that my study years will be a great experience and the change will be refreshing.

To whom would you recommend Tampere as a place to study and why?

I think there is always a place for everyone who wants to study here. Tampere is a big city where you will find like-minded people. This place fits not only those who want to be active but also those who are less active. Everyone is welcome here!
