Chih-Yu Kohonen - student ambassador
Student Ambassador Chih-Yu Kohonen studies International business and has lived in Tampere since 2018.

How long have you been in Tampere and what brought you here originally?

I have been here for one and a half years, we moved to Tampere because my husband got a new job in Tampere.

What subject do you study and how did you choose it?

I am studying in the International Business programme, I hope after I have obtained knowledge of international business, it would be easier for me to find a job in Finland without my foreign language skills. Besides, the programme I was interested in doesn't have English course.

What do you like about Tampere and Finland the most?

Tampere is my favourite city, it's neither too big nor too small. City life and nature are both close to us. Finland's nature scenery is beautiful and very different from my home country. For me, it is amazing that I can swim in the lake and still enjoy the sun shine in the summer and ski in the forest in the winter.

What about your hobbies here in Tampere or in Finland?

I like to do cross country skiing in Kauppi, sometimes I also enjoy going to the public sauna and swimming in the lake.

What would you say to someone deciding whether Tampere is the right place to come to study and live?

It would be the best choice that you have ever made, it's relatively international compared to other cities, and it is going to be one of the best sustainable future cities, where you would enjoy the life a lot.
