TRANSFORM-AI: addressing Finland’s innovation paradox
Finland has world-leading levels of education, skills and digital capabilities, yet these strengths have not translated fully into productivity and economic growth. TRANSFORM-AI investigates this innovation paradox by examining how leadership practices, institutional behaviours, intangible capital and responsible AI adoption interact in shaping innovation and renewal.
Rather than treating AI as a standalone driver of growth, TRANSFORM-AI approaches it as part of a broader human, organisational and societal system. The project integrates economics, behavioural science, business research, futures studies, educational science, philosophy and ICT. Its goal is to generate research-based knowledge, frameworks and practical tools that help businesses, policymakers and other organisations harness AI responsibly while supporting sustainable competitiveness and economic growth.
Tampere University leads research on proactive market shaping with AI
The team led by Dr Valtteri Kaartemo investigates how Finnish firms can move from reacting to market developments towards actively shaping future markets with the support of AI. The research focuses particularly on managerial decision-making cognition, the potential of AI to enhance market foresight, and the co-design of generative AI tools that can help identify and mitigate biases in market-shaping decisions.
