This interdisciplinary research project examines the interpretative challenges of managing burnout from a labour law perspective. In addition to doctrinal legal research, the project adopts an empirical approach to analyse the application of labour law in Finnish organisations and their occupational health services. The study aims to clarify the roles of employers, employer representatives, and occupational health services in the management of burnout, to develop a labour law framework and process for burnout management, and to propose recommendations for legislative reform.
The project is carried out as a collaborative effort between the University of Helsinki and Tampere University, and is led by Associate Professor of Labour and Social Law, Jari Murto (University of Helsinki). Other members of the research team are Enni Ala-Mikkula, D.Sc. (Econ.), Tampere University; Reetta Oksa, D.Soc.Sc., Tampere University; and Janne Hänninen, M.D., LL.M., University of Helsinki.
The project's website is available on the University of Helsinki website.
