Description

The application period for the Master's route studies for the academic year 2026–2027 begins on 29 June 2026 and ends 12 July 2026.

The aim of the open university route studies is to facilitate the student’s access to a full degree programme at a later time. The Open University MSc routes are meant for applicants already residing in Finland with a suitable bachelor’s degree for master’s degree studies. Applicants must prove their eligibility and send in their degree certificate with necessary attachments as they apply for route studies (read more on the How to register section). The faculty checks that these preceding studies are acceptable before students are admitted for the route studies. Only applications received during the application period will be reviewed.

All courses must be completed during a single academic year. Students on the MSc route can apply for the right to study in the degree programme their route studies have followed. A student may be admitted for degree studies after completing the route studies in the required schedule and according to the requirements of the degree programmes. Please note that the credits should be visible in the student register on 14 June 2027 in order to be taken into account.

The right to study is granted through this Open University Route only for the following specializations in Master's Programme in Computing Sciences and Electrical Engineering, MSc. Tech:

The Degree Regulations of Tampere University will apply to the granting of a study right to applicants applying through the Open University route. For more information, please see limitations on granting a new right to study. Applicants currently pursuing a BSc (Tech) and/or MSc (Tech) at Tampere University are not eligible to be granted a new right to study through this route.
A previously completed master’s degree does not make applicants ineligible for admission, but applicants will only be admitted to study for a second master’s degree for particularly weighty reasons. Read more from the How to register -section.
