Play a key role in the green transition!
The world is rapidly undergoing a transformation driven by electrification. Renewable energy sources, electric transportation, digitalization, artificial intelligence, and sustainable industry all depend on advanced power systems and energy conversion solutions. As societies aim to reduce carbon emissions and improve energy, material, and cost efficiency, the demand for experts in electrical energy engineering continues to grow. As an Electrical Energy Engineering student, you will learn to design and operate technologies and systems that are central to the green transition, from renewable-energy and market integration and smart grids to efficient electromechanical energy conversion systems and power converters.
High-class education and collaboration with the industry
Electrical Energy Engineering specialisation combines studies in power systems and markets, power electronics, and electromechanics, giving you the knowledge and skills to understand how electricity is generated, transmitted, stored, managed, traded, converted, and used in modern society. You will develop the analytical, modelling, simulation, design, and practical skills required to solve real-world engineering challenges. Theoretical studies are put into practice through simulation exercises with state-of-the-art engineering software as well as laboratory sessions with modern experimental platforms. This strong link between theory and practice helps you build the confidence and expertise needed to address industry-relevant challenges.
We offer high-quality education based on the latest knowledge and research, delivered by our accomplished and internationally recognized staff. Moreover, our university collaborates closely with industry in the Tampere region. This helps our students find valuable thesis-work opportunities and jobs after graduation.
