A Curriculum Built for Real-World Impact
Our comprehensive curriculum is tailored to provide a deep, hands-on understanding of the critical environmental engineering systems that sustain human life and protect natural ecosystems. Throughout your studies, you will develop expertise in several key areas:
- Safeguarding Vital Resources: Water is our most precious resource. You will develop practical, applied chemistry skills for drinking water and wastewater treatment, allowing you to understand the chemical processes that keep our communities safe. This is paired with comprehensive coursework in modern water and wastewater treatment technologies.
- Designing Monitoring and Measurements: Great engineers learn by doing. You will gain solid knowledge in sampling and analysis in water, wastewater, air and emissions, giving you the ability to accurately measure and monitor environmental health.
- Resource and Waste Optimization: You will learn to tackle the challenges of modern consumption through advanced solid waste management strategies, while also studying how to analyze and improve industrial processes to minimize their ecological footprints and promote the recovery of critical raw materials from renewable resources towards a circular economy.
- Predicting and Managing Impact: To design better solutions, you must first understand the problem. Our program trains you in fundamental knowledge and understanding in life cycle assessment methodologies and environmental modelling, enabling you to predict how industrial and municipal projects will interact with the natural world in the continued studies.
Best Student Life in Finland
You get to experience the unique Finnish student culture in the most student-friendly city in Finland. You will be part of our own international student guild, TaSciEn, which offers a warm community and organizes events ranging from company visits to alumni events as well as parties and sports activities. It is a support network that helps you to integrate into the programme and life in Tampere.
