Digitalization creates opportunities

Our modern society is fundamentally built on electricity and digital technologies. Information technology and data analysis play a major role in the digitalization of everyday life, with IT solutions being essential across all sectors. This creates a wide range of career opportunities for experts in the field.

At the same time, wireless networks (5G/6G) and the transition to renewable energy sources are key drivers of a connected and sustainable future, which makes electrical engineering a highly relevant field.

With recent proliferation of AI and machine learning, the future is smart and requires a diverse combination of skillsets such as programming, data analysis, mathematical modeling.

Flexibility and options for further studies

Your first study year consists of common core courses in Computing and Electrical Engineering as well as in Mathematics and Physics. You will choose your major and minor at the start of the second study year. Within Information Technology and Electrical Engineering majors, you will study core courses in the discipline, build a strong foundation, and then specialize in one of the five focus areas.

University studies at Tampere will offer you flexibility to tailor your degree according to your own interests. We also offer our second-year students the possibility to do research training in one of our research groups. This is an invaluable early opportunity to get hands-on experience while earning ECTS credits applicable to your degree.

Graduates with a Bachelor of Science in Technology degree (3 years) are eligible to continue their studies directly towards a master's degree (+2 years) at Tampere University without having to re-apply. There are multiple options to choose from among the English-taught Master of Science (Tech) programmes offered by Tampere University.

Best student life in Finland

We offer our students high-quality teaching in relatively small, multicultural study groups where teamwork is strongly supported. In addition to providing a sound theoretical basis for further studies in the field of technology, the programme places special emphasis on employability and integration. With this unique combination, our students are well-prepared for the international world of research and industry.

You get to experience the unique Finnish student culture in the most student-friendly city in Finland. You will be part of our own international student guild, TaSciEn, which offers a warm community of students in similar fields and organizes events, ranging from company visits to alumni events to parties and sports activities. Studying Science and Engineering - What do our students say?

Head of the Programme, Assistant Professor Mohsin Abbas

I took part in many hands-on courses, research training, and worked part-time as a teaching assistant, which were valuable experiences that helped me grow both academically and personally.

Asides the professionalism and easy accessibility of the professors in charge of the courses, the University has a lot of facilities to make studying comfortable ranging from well equipped library, computer rooms, and lot of convenient reading/working spaces.
