The Work to Belong project is a collaborative project between TAMK, HelsinkiMissio, and Tredu. It aims to strengthen young people’s social well-being, coping at work, and attachment to working life. The project is part of HelsinkiMissio’s Work to Belong programme and it is funded by the K.P. Ruuskanen Foundation. The project focuses on students’ internships and the goal to develop instructions and models that better take into account young people’s social needs and well-being in the workplace.
Background
In the early stages of working life, many young people experience anxiety and uncertainty. A lack of social support, limited sense of belonging, and increasing pressures in working life further undermine mental well-being.
Goal
The aim of the Work to Belong project is to strengthen young people’s social well-being, coping at work, and sense of belonging in working life. The project improves the quality of internships by identifying related challenges and good practices, particularly from the perspectives of workplace integration, well-being, and community. The project develops guidelines for internships and a model for workplaces, through which young people’s participation and attachment to the workplace can be strengthened.
Impact
The project improves the quality of internships by identifying related challenges and good practices, particularly from the perspectives of workplace integration, social well-being, and sense of community. It increases understanding of young people’s experiences of working life and develops a model that supports their participation and attachment to the workplace. The solutions will be shared with the working life.
