The SustEduFuture+ project develops digital resources that support future-oriented transformative learning, with a particular focus on upper secondary education teachers.
The resources include an online platform for teachers that supports transformative pedagogy and sustainability education, related blogs and articles, and 70 sustainability challenges for students. The project will also organise a sustainability-themed digital hackathon.
The project resources will be developed and tested in Belgium, Italy, Greece, Latvia, Finland and Romania.
Background
Strengthening sustainability competences requires pedagogical approaches that enhance learners' agency and active participation. The projcet uses partners' previous expertise to faciltate teachers in implementing pedagogical change.
During the project planning phase, several tensions and challenges related to digital learning environments and artificial intelligence were identified. The project aims to promote a responsible culture of AI use as an integral part of sustainability education.
Goal
The aim is that teachers participating in the project, as well as those using the resources developed by the project, will be able to design and implement transformative sustainability education by using digital platforms and tools in innovative ways.
They will also be able to apply pedagogical approaches that foster students' critical thinking and future-oriented skills.
Following the project, teachers will be able to identify their own sustainability competences and monitor their development through digital badges. They will also be able to assess the development of students' sustainability competences.
Impact
The project's impact will be achieved through changes in teachers’ pedagogical practices. Methods that encourage agency, creativity and hopeful future will strengthen students’ citizenship, democratic participation and their ability to act as builders of a sustainable future.
The project provides a strong foundation for pedagogical transformation through a digital learning environment, learning challenges and tools for competence assessment.
