Reforming Public Health Nurse Education

Ministry of Education and Culture Finland

As part of the Orpo Government Programme's measures to reduce the accumulation of higher education degrees, a reform of double-degree qualifications, such as the Public Health Nurse degree, has been proposed. Under the proposed amendment to the Universities of Applied Sciences Act, Public Health Nurse education would no longer constitute a degree-awarding programme.

The purpose of the project is to develop national recommendations for the implementation of the reformed Public Health Nurse education with regard to student selection, curriculum design, cooperation with working life, and practical training placements. The project's objective is to support the implementation of the legislative reform and the launch of the new education model.
