DigiScope3

Pirkanmaa Council of Tampere RegionCo-funded by the European Union
Tampere University of Applied Sciences
Duration of project1.2.2025–31.1.2028

The DigiScope3
project focuses on developing new abilities for the SME sector for environmentally friendly reporting in the Scope3 type. This is necessary as the traceability requirements tighten, e.g. through legislation. In the project, TAMK develops ways to reliably calculate CO2 emissions during the manufacturing process, and JAMK develops sustainable procurement processes that equally utilize digitalization. However, DigiScope3 goes beyond regulations and aims to find out how better traceability and measurement of carbon footprints or even carbon handprints could help companies create new business models based on the data economy and new innovation.

The measures of the project are as follows:
WP1: State-of-the-art survey of the situation in the SME sector, existing tools and projects
WP2 JAMK: Sustainable and digitally intelligent procurement operations
WP3 TAMK: Measurement of manufacturing emissions
WP4: Reporting as part of the data economy
WP5 Communication and national and international cooperation

The results are as follows:
Result 1: Opportunities and challenges of implementing Scope-type reporting
Result 2: Sustainable procurement processes
Result 3: Value from data - how can product carbon footprint assessment, open reporting and sustainable procurement increase the company's business?
Result 4: Testbed to produce information for reducing the company's carbon footprint
Result 5: Strengthening of ecosystem-like functioning
