The AEQUALIS4TCLF Blueprint project aims to address the skills gap in the Textile, Clothing, Leather, and Footwear (TCLF) sector
in the European Union. The project involves relevant stakeholders such as industry representatives, chambers of commerce, employers’
associations, Higher Education (HE) and V ocational Education and Training (VET) providers from seven European countries: Czechia,
Croatia, Lithuania, Finland, Netherlands, Slovenia, and Serbia. The project has two main objectives. The first objective is to expand the
reach of the METASKILLS4TCLF and S4STCLF Blueprint projects from 11 countries to 18 through the AEQUALIS4TCLF project,
unifying Europe in skilling and reskilling the TCLF workforce. This will enable the TCLF industry to better prepare for the future
and achieve a sustainable and circular economy. The second objective is to address the skills gap in the TCLF industry by promoting
partnerships, identifying specific skills needed, and developing new curricula for a more sustainable and digital industry. It also supports
social inclusion, safety, and compliance through integrated workshops and guidelines. By working together towards these objectives,
the project will position these countries as leaders in sustainable and innovative production models, contributing significantly to the
TCLF sector in the EU.
Background
The project background for AEQUALIS4TCLF is rooted in the urgent need to upskill and reskill the workforce in Europe’s textile, clothing, leather, and footwear (TCLF) sectors to meet the challenges of green and digital transitions. The sector faces an aging workforce, skills shortages—especially in digital and green areas—and a lack of attractiveness for young talent. The project builds on previous EU initiatives and aims to expand collaboration, develop modern curricula, promote diversity and inclusion, and support sustainable, innovative production models. It unites industry, education, and policy stakeholders across 8 countries to address these challenges and ensure sector competitiveness.

By working together towards these objectives, the project will position these countries as leaders in sustainable and innovative production models, contributing significantly to the TCLF sector in the EU.
Impact
The AEQUALIS4TCLF project benefits target groups by providing new opportunities for upskilling and reskilling in the textile, clothing, leather, and footwear sectors, focusing on green and digital skills. It delivers updated, industry-aligned curricula and open-access learning materials, enhances collaboration between industry and education, and promotes diversity and inclusion. Companies gain access to a more skilled workforce, employees and students improve their employability, and training providers receive modern resources. The project also supports better job matching, reduces discrimination, and strengthens the sector’s competitiveness and sustainability across Europe. All resources remain freely available after the project ends.
