
Study voucher for Open UAS studies
Am I eligible?
You may receive a study voucher if:
- You completed your first upper secondary qualification in Finland after 1 December 2025
- You were under 29 years old on the day you graduated
- You applied in the spring 2026 joint application
- You did not receive a study place or did not accept the place offered
If you are eligible, you can check your status and activate your voucher in the Opin.fi service from 5 August 2026.
What is a study voucher?
A study voucher is a payment method for open higher education studies offered in Finnish or Swedish. You can complete studies worth up to 30 ECTS credits.Registration and payment take place in the Opin.fi service.
The voucher is valid for two years from the publication of the joint application results You can use it at your own pace and in multiple parts. You cannot use the voucher as part-payment for studies that exceed 30 ECTS credits.

With a study voucher, you can try courses in different fields free of charge without losing your first-time applicant status.
Develop study skills
Experience university-level learning at an applied sciences institution and evaluate if it is the right choice for you, while building your readiness for higher education studies.
Earn credits for your studies
If you are later admitted as a degree student, it may be possible to apply credits from these Open UAS courses toward your degree requirements.
What can I study with a study voucher?
You can use the study voucher to study individual courses or larger study modules (up to 30 ECTS credits in total).
You must register for studies through the Opin.fi service. If a course is not available there, you cannot use the study voucher for it.

Open UAS offerings
All our Open UAS courses are available in the Opin.fi service, and you can use the study voucher for any study module of up to 30 ECTS credits.

Open UAS route studies
Do you already know which degree you want to study? In Open UAS route studies, you first complete first-year courses that are part of the degree as an Open UAS student, usually together with degree students. Based on your completed studies, you may later apply to become a degree student without an entrance exam or certificate-based admission. Some Open UAS route study modules consist of 30 ECTS credits and can be fully covered with a study voucher. Open UAS route studies for nursing will be available starting January 2027, so you can save your voucher for registration beginning in December 2026.

Introductory sourses
Introductory courses offer an opportunity to try out studying at TAMK and to explore a field of interest and a related profession. Some introductory courses are free of charge for everyone.
