Completing a degree in Open University of Applied Sciences
For whom?
If your degree studies at TAMK are not finished, you can complete your missing studies in Open UAS, regardless of the number of credits you are missing. There is a fee for studying in Open UAS.
There are also other ways to complete your degree. For more information, see Other options for completing a degree.
Are you more than 60 credits short of a Bachelor's degree or more than 30 credits short of a Master's degree? Did your study right at TAMK start before 1 August 2015? If either is true for you, the studies in Open UAS are your only option for completing your degree, unless you want to go through entrance exams again.
Non-EU/EEA or Swiss nationals
If you are a non-EU/EEA or Swiss national, you can only complete your degree in open UAS if you meet all the following conditions:
- Your previous degree at TAMK was not completed
- You are not subject to tuition fees. TAMK will check Migri databases for your residence permit history, if the situation is not clear.
- You have a residence permit in Finland. We will ask you for a copy of your residence permit.
How much do the studies cost?
When you complete the studies missing from your degree in Open UAS, you pay 15 euros per credit unit. However, over the course of a year (12 months), the maximum cost is 200 euros.

Draw up a study plan
Draw up a plan for completing the missing studies together with your study counsellor. Find out with your study counsellor which studies are missing from your degree. Make a list of the missing courses with their implementation codes. You can find out which studies you have completed in the past, for example by using MyStudyinfo or by requesting a transcript of records from servicepoint.tamk [at] tuni.fi (servicepoint[dot]tamk[at]tuni[dot]fi)

Fill in the registration form
Register as an Open UAS student using the online form.

Start your studies as instructed
Once you have been granted the right to study in Open University of Applied Sciences, you will receive an email with instructions on how to start your studies. You will receive information on how to activate your TUNI user account and how to start your studies.

Pay your Open UAS fees
You will receive an invoice by email after starting your studies.

Once you have completed the required number of credits, choose a route towards your degree
Did your study right at TAMK start on 1 August 2015 or after? When you have less than 60 credits left to complete your Bachelor's degree and less than 30 credits left to complete your Master's degree, you can apply for reinstatement of your previous study right to continue as a degree student. Degree studies are free of charge.
Did your study right at TAMK start before 1 August 2015? You must complete all the studies missing from your degree as a paying student in Open UAS. Once you have completed your studies, you must apply for reinstatement of your previous study right to graduate and receive your degree certificate.
Other options to complete your degree
If you are less than 60 credits short of a Bachelor's degree or less than 30 credits short of a Master's degree, and your previous study right at TAMK started on or after 1.8.2015, you can apply for reinstatement of your previous study right to continue as a degree student. Degree studies are free of charge.
Applying to TAMK and asking for credit transfer
You can also apply to our degree programmes in the national joint application to higher education. After starting your degree studies, you can ask for credit transfer of your previous studies.
