Orientation Day for doctoral researchers

There is plenty of new information to take in when you begin your journey to the doctorate. Enrolling into courses, new communication channels, funding, data management and searching for relevant literature and more. The best way to orient towards your work as a doctoral researcher is to participate in the Orientation Day.

The Doctoral School Orientation Day is typically organised in August and in January.

The next Orientation Day for doctoral researchers is organised on Thursday August 22nd, 2024 in Hervanta (more information in the event calendar). Similar event in Finnish is organised on Tuesday August 20th, 2024 on city centre campus (more information in the event calendar, in Finnish). You are welcome to attend either one. 

Register for the Orientation Day in Sisu (TAU.TRI.101). The registration opens on 1st August, 2024. 

The Orientation Day provides you with information on the key services and steps you can take to get the best out of your doctorate at Tampere University. You will also hear experiences from your peers. The event offers you the opportunity to build contacts with your colleagues and support your dissertation research. A more detailed programme of the Orientation Day can be found on the intranet's event calendar.

You find more details in the Student’s guide and The powerpoint slides from the orientation event are available to you on Moodle area at all times.

All doctoral researchers, including those who’ve already began, are welcome!
