Weathering equipment

Weathering equipment can be used to determine accelerated weathering resistance of façade structures. The weathering equipment allows the test structure to be exposed to severe weathering action depicting the Finnish climate. Outdoor and indoor temperatures and relative humidity can be adjusted. In addition, possible transformations in the test structure occurred during the weathering can be examined.

Weathering equipment can be used to examine following issues:

Weathering resistance of a structure under a cyclic weathering action
- deterioration caused by freeze-thaw effect
- tightness against rainwater (window details, coating, seals…)
Temperature and/or relative humidity related transformations in the structure

Features:

Size of the test structure:
- width x height: 2998 mm x 1998 mm = 6,0 m²
- depth: ≤ 400 mm
Adjustable features:
- outdoor and indoor temperature
- outdoor and indoor relative humidity
- heat radiation on the outer surface
- precipitation
Temperature of the inner chamber: +10…+30 °C
Temperature of the outer chamber: -30…+70 °C
