Investments in a biodegradability/compostability testing facility and sustainable plastic film processing line.
Goal
The investment project supports equipment investments for building and development of standardised biodegradability and compostability testing facilities at TAMK. The equipment investments also help to improve the process and energy efficiency of the film extrusion line at VTT Tampere. Together the investments aim at creating a fast, versatile and accessible research and development environment for companies to improve the carbon footprint of their plastic film products and to support the Finnish bioeconomy strategy and regional development initiatives of the Tampere region.
The investments made in the project are especially beneficial to companies in the film, packaging and hygiene paper product sectors. The investment project is funded by the Council of Tampere Region and it is coordinated by VTT Technical Research Centre of Finland Ltd. In addition to TAMK, the project partners include nine companies in the Tampere region. The investment project is closely connected to the development project PIHI - Sustainable Polymer Film Solutions.
