Tampere University
Duration of project1.8.2020–31.7.2021

The excavation sector is a dangerous sector because large machines and large masses of earth are moved on construction sites. Heavy machinery and vehicles are often part of accidents at work. Numerous deaths have occurred in the sector in the 21st century. During 2018 there were 11 fatal accidents at work in the sector.

The aim on the project is to plan a new safety training in the excavation engineering sector.  According to companies and workers in the sector, this is important to reach consistent practices in order to create a safer work culture.

The result of this project is a new safety training in the excavation sector and an increase in safety competence in the Satakunta region.
