Humour Affordances in Digital Learning Environments (HAnDLE)

Tampere University of Applied Sciences

The purpose of this research group is to explore the use of humour in online pedagogy. Humour is an important tool in teaching, used to engage and motivate students as well as create a fun and safe space for learning. There is an existing body of literature that has attempted to pick apart and quantify this most slippery of topics. Now, in the ongoing pandemic, education largely moves into a new online environment. With a new space and the affordances of communication that come with that, how is the use of humour affected?
