Many business environments have embraced team-based structures to remain competitive in the contemporary business world. Recent research has emphasized the role of emergent leadership—i.e., leadership that arises organically and dynamically within teams—in successful business operations.
However, there is limited knowledge about how emergent leadership develops during team collaboration. This project aims to address this gap by studying the temporal evolution of emergent leadership among teammates by collecting multimodal time-series data during their real-time interactions.
The project findings will help identify and facilitate emergent leadership through a dynamic, multilayered perspective while incorporating new and novel methods. Additionally, the project will advance gamified learning knowledge by providing fresh insights into how collaborative and competitive play can be blended to foster learning and engagement among business teams.
