This research group examines how contemporary French is changing from this point of view. In France, the literary norm is typically greatly valued and the consensus seems to be still in favour of conserving and nurturing the normative French language.
Research focus and goals
Our question is, is this highly literary culture in France moving back towards more spontaneous culture of producing texts in which orthodox conventions of written language are being replaced by others, such as features from spoken language. We study the syntactic and textual features of everyday literary language.
