About me

I am an Associate Professor of Nanochemistry at Tampere University, leading a multidisciplinary team where chemistry meets biology, medicine, and materials science. My work spans nanoparticle self-assembly, cryogenic electron microscopy, biopolymer optical fibers, and breast cancer disease and diagnostics, all united by one goal: engineering materials to solve real human problems.

Precision: From materials to medicine

My research focuses on the design, characterization, and preparation of materials, devices, and systems that involve the manipulation and control at the highest level of precision. I bridge materials chemistry, nanotechnology, and biomedical sciences to fabricate structures that preserve their unique properties from the nanoscale all the way to macroscopic and living systems.

Mission-driven science

By effectively utilizing material stock and flow, creating a new value chain, and driving innovation in good health and well-being, our research activities support climate-neutral policies, the circular economy, the European Union's Green Deal, the UN´s Sustainable Development Goals, and Europe´s Beating Cancer Plan.
