About me

I started as a cryptographer at SSH Communications Security in 1997 and I am still on that path. I have also worked in more general technical information security consulting and security assessment roles. I did my Ph.D. in the United Kingdom (ISG, Royal Holloway, University of London in 2009). 

Responsibilities

In addition to regular academic tasks (research activities, teaching, supervision of theses, subject matter expert roles), a Professor of Practice in Information Security helps the university and its students to meet the evolving requirements of industry, businesses, and the state and acts as a technical contact person in research projects and teaching curriculum development.

I hold the Title of Docent in Cryptography and Information Security at Tampere University, and therefore I can act as the primary supervisor of PhD students in my field.

Fields of expertise

My core competencies are in applied cryptography, cryptographic engineering, and security assessments (including cryptanalysis.)
