Katja Dindar

I currently work as an Academy Research Fellow in the Degree Programme of Psychology and the Tampere Institute for Advanced Study at Tampere University. I'm a licensed psychologist with a PhD in psychology and hold the title of Docent (Adjunct Professor) in social interaction and communication research. 

My research focuses broadly on social inclusion of neurodivergent children and adults and on addressing barriers to participation. I build on both qualitative and quantitative methodologies to understand neurodivergent social interaction and communication in different contexts. An important line of my research focuses on examining embodied communication using multimodal conversation analysis. In addition, participatory and co-research as well as people's lived experiences are central to my work throughout. 

My work is fundamentally interdisciplinary, and I collaborate closely with researchers in fields such as social psychology, education, speech and language pathology, and linguistics, and I also engage with non-governmental organisations and other stakeholder groups.

I currently lead the Guiding Me, Guiding You: Deontic Dimensions of Guidance with Neurominorities (NEUROGUIDANCE) Academy Research Fellowship project. In addition to myself, this multidisciplinary, participatory research project involves co-researchers representing neurominorities as well as researchers in the fields of educational sciences, social research and logopedics. The project is implemented in close collaboration with researchers in the fields of psychology, guidance and counselling, and social psychology.
