About me

Hossein Mokhtarian is a Docent in Additive Manufacturing and University Lecturer at Tampere University, Finland. His research focuses on additive manufacturing, digital twins, AI for manufacturing, process modeling and simulation, systems engineering, digital manufacturing, and smart production systems. He holds a double PhD from Tampere University and Université Grenoble Alpes and has led several European and national projects in advanced manufacturing. His work combines physics-based and data-driven approaches to improve manufacturing processes, product development, and industrial digitalization. He has authored more than 35 scientific publications and supervised numerous doctoral, master's, and bachelor's students while actively contributing to engineering education and industry collaboration.

Responsibilities

- Designing and delivering undergraduate and graduate courses. Currently responsible of Additive Manufacturing and Digital Manufacturing courses and contributing to other mechanical engineering courses.

- Supervising and mentoring doctoral, master's, and bachelor's students, and interns.

- Leading and contributing to national and international research projects.

- Developing research initiatives in additive manufacturing, digital manufacturing, AI-enabled manufacturing, and digital twins.

- Performing research and publishing high-impact research in leading journals and international conferences.

- Collaborating with industrial partners to address advanced manufacturing challenges and support technology adoption.

- Securing research funding and managing project execution.

- Contributing to curriculum development and the advancement of engineering education.

- Reviewing research proposals, journal manuscripts, and conference submissions.

- Supporting academic community activities through scientific collaboration, dissemination, and professional service.

- Serving on the International Scientific Committee (ISC) and Local Organizing Committee (LOC) for the SEFI 2025 Conference.

- Serving as a member of organizing committees for the Finnish Additive Manufacturing Ecosystem (FAME) Symposium and other scientific events in additive manufacturing and engineering education.
