Rustam Pirmagomedov
Rustam Pirmagomedov´s thesis aims to facilitate cutting edge Internet of Things (IoT) via the improvement of connectivity and throughput for the devices, as well as their network identification tools.

Commonly the enhanced communication capacity for wireless devices is enabled by the utilization of higher frequencies. In addition to the mainstream developments, this thesis explores and evaluates alternative solutions for addressing emerging IoT demands, including cases where the mobile network infrastructure is limited or unavailable.

Presently, IoT technologies influence the global market, bringing benefits in many areas, including healthcare, manufacturing, transportation, and entertainment.

“We are entering an era of being connected where augmenting human and machine intelligence will be used to sense, control, and automate everything” says Marcus Weldon, President at Bell Labs & CTO, Nokia.

The emerging services of IoT expected to increase the rate of people’s lives further and allow for faster performance of everyday tasks. These technologies pose new challenges from the communication engineering perspective.

The dissertation begins with a discussion on the emerging IoT applications and selects several illustrative scenarios for consideration. Further, the dissertation elaborates on innovative solutions proposed for the selected scenarios and supports findings with numerical results.

The doctoral dissertation of Cand.Sc. (Tech.) Rustam Pirmagomedov in the field of communications engineering titled Facilitating Internet of Things on the Edge will be publicly examined in the Faculty of Information Technology and Communication Sciences at Tampere University at noon on Tuesday 12th May 2020.  The Opponent will be Professor Edmundo Monteiro from University of Coimbra Portugal. The Custos will be Professor Evgeny Kucheryavy from the Faculty of Information Technology and Communication Sciences at Tampere University.
