Tampere University’s master’s programmes attract over 14,000 applications

A record number of applications were submitted to Tampere University’s international master’s degree programmes. The number of applications grew by 46 percent from last year.

Tampere University offered 36 master’s programmes taught in English for the 2024 intake. The application period ended on 3 January 2024. Students admitted to these programmes will graduate as Master’s of Arts or Social Sciences, and Master’s of Science, Engineering or Architecture.

The total number of applications received was 14,515. The most popular study options were Data Science, Computing Sciences and Electrical Engineering (1,334 applications), Software, Web & Cloud, Computing Sciences (1,063 applications), Sustainable Business Management, Leadership for Change (939 applications) and Business and Technology (844 applications). Applicants were able to apply to a maximum of three (3) programmes.

Tampere University also experienced growth in the number of individual applicants who totalled 7,296. This shows a growth of 38% from last year. The applicants represent more than 100 nationalities. The number of Finnish applicants was 172. The percentage of non-EU and non-EEA applicants was 95 (6,942 applicants).

Application period for English-taught Bachelor’s programmes will end on 17 January.
