Tampere University’s master’s programmes attract nearly 10,000 applications

A record number of applications were submitted to Tampere University’s international master’s degree programmes. The number of applications grew by 167 percent from last year.

Tampere University offered 35 master’s programmes taught in English for the 2023 intake. The application period ended on 11 January 2023. Students admitted to these programmes will graduate as masters of arts or social sciences, and masters of science, technology or architecture.

The total number of applications was 9,929. The new Master’s Programme in Civil Engineering offers two study tracks: Sustainable Transport and Structural Engineering, which gained a total of 398 applications.  The most popular study options were Data Science, Computing Sciences (932 applications), Sustainable Business Management, Leadership for Change (662 applications) and Software, Web & Cloud, Computing Sciences (650 applications). Applicants were able to apply to a maximum of three programmes. 

Tampere University also experienced growth in the number of individual applicants, who totalled 5,295. The number grew by 143 percent from last year. The applicants represent more than 100 nationalities. The number of Finnish applicants was 247. The percentage of non-EU and non-EEA applicants was 92 (4,876 applicants).

The application period for English-language bachelor’s programmes will continue until on 18 January.
