ChronosHub helps researchers navigate article processing charges
The service is tailored to the needs of Tampere Higher Education Community. It is linked to two separate forms of support for open access publishing:
- The Open Access support funding, coordinated by Tampere University Library, which researchers can now apply for via a form on ChronosHub (see the library guide for application criteria and instructions), and
- Subscription agreements with academic publishers that include discounts on article processing charges (see the library guide for details).
Journal Guide includes information on discounts
The ChronosHub Journal Guide includes information on the terms of the licence agreements between the Tampere Higher Education Community and publishers. This helps the researcher to identify which journals are covered by agreements that entitle them to discounts. Information on the Publication Forum, or JUFO levels of the journals has also been integrated into the search.
About the Journal Guide:
- Contains information on more than 46 000 journals, sources include e.g. Scopus, the Directory of Open Access Journals and the Publication Forum database (JUFO).
- Allows you to search for a specific journal, or a journal on a specific topic using keywords or subject filters.
- Compares the suitability of journals with the conditions of research funders (including Plan S funders).
ChronosHub in a nutshell
What?
A service to help researchers take advantage of the various Open Access publishing options and to speed up the library's consultation and processing of article processing charges.
For whom?
For all researchers looking for information on publishing discounts and Open Access publication channels.
Why?
Open Access business models are diverse and involve a lot of administrative work. Not all research funders pay article processing charges directly, so the payment transactions flow through research organisations. The requirements for payment, research funders’ conditions, and the renown of the publication channel can seem difficult to reconcile – ChronosHub allows a complete picture to be built up using only one information source.
Later on, the library will organise training sessions on how to use the service.
