IT services for research

We provide IT services for researchers in the Universities community spanning the entire life cycle of studies. In many respects, the general information management services are suitable tools for researchers, but services and capacity have also been acquired specifically to support research.  

Below is a summary of key services.

Solution consulting 

This is intended especially for situations when there are no suitable ready-made solutions among the services offered in the Universities community. Contact our research IT experts (it-helpdesk [at] tuni.fi (it-helpdesk[at]tuni[dot]fi)) and we can see together how to move forward. If necessary, our experts will be happy to participate in discussions on long-term technology choices and investments as well as to solve practical everyday situations.

Research data protection and security 

Data protection means the protection of personal data.  Data protection is a fundamental right safeguarding the data subject’s rights and freedoms when their personal data is processed.

Information security is one method of implementing data protection. Its purpose is to protect data and information systems. Information security means ie the organisational and technical measures to ensure the confidentiality and integrity of data, the usability of systems and the management of the access rights of data subjects.

Funet Filesender - filesender.funet.fi
Funet Filesender is an easy-to-use, browser-based file sharing service specialized in transferring and sharing large files. The service isn't intended for long-term storage since the files are deleted after a pretermined period of time. To access Funet Filesender, use Haka login.

Open Science and Research - openscience.fi
Open Science and Research is an initiative supported by The Ministry of Education and Culture of Finland. The initiative aims to promote research availability of information and open science practices. The site contains information about the initiative and open science customs, and is open for everyone to use.
