Tell us about yourself and your studies

Hi, I am Sai Poojith. I am from India and moved to Tampere a year ago to start my master's in Information Technology-Embedded Systems at Tampere University. I decided to move here for higher education which has an extraordinary reputation for being one of the best education systems in the world.

Why did you choose your current programme?

I chose to major in embedded systems because I really like to work with hardware and software. It is one of the most underrated but interesting and progressive technologies that allow us to create wonders in the digital world. Finland is one of the most happening places in the embedded systems industry. The master's program at Tampere University is designed to accommodate students to gain knowledge in today's industry requirements and resources to research and develop new technologies.

Can you share with us your experiences in Finland and Tampere?

In my country, the education system is quite different compared to Finland, it can be quite stressful for students in my country. Finland, especially Tampere University has the best student culture, everyone is welcome to all events and there are a lot of events organized to help integrate international students into the Finnish culture and education system.

In my opinion, Tampere is one of the best cities in Europe for students. According to Finns, Tampere is the most loved residential and tourism city in Finland. In terms of culture, Tampere is known as the Sauna Capital of the World and is frequently at the forefront of technological advancement. Although Tampere is not without flaws, it is a place where people can be themselves without fear of judgment. Tampere has a lovely historic element that is almost enticing, as well as a vibrant yet soothing element.

What kind of student activities have you participated in?

I am an international tutor this year and I have participated in many student activities related to the guilds and clubs.

What would you say to someone planning to study and live in Tampere?

Feel free to ask for help if you need it. People in Finland are very warm and welcoming, and almost all of them speak English. The language might not be a barrier but learning Finnish is a good way to learn about the culture.

What is your favourite place in the city to go for fun with friends?

My favorite places to visit are mostly associated with nature, I like to take long walks in the forests and spend time at the lakes. Suolijarvi and Tammerkoski are the places that I visit the most for fun with friends.
