Tampere University
Student Ambassador Mohaiminul describes himself as an Engineer, Sportsperson, Gamer, Slytherin and Targaryen.

How long have you been in Tampere and what brought you here?

I have been here for almost 2 months. I  came here to study Communications Engineering. As Tampere is the technology hub of Finland and the whole world, it was my dream to pursue a master's degree in IT from Tampere University. For this reason, I have chosen the university and the city. And now here I am!!!

What subject(s) do you study and what made you choose them?

I have come here to study MS in Communication Systems and Networks (IT). I completed my Bachelor's in EEE and communication was my focus area. Besides, I have worked in a mobile telecom operator for 4.5 years, having this experience, I decided to extend my knowledge and learn more. That is why I have chosen most relevant program with my background.

What do you like most about Tampere and Finland? What has been the most suprising or different thing about living here?

I like the pollution free, calm and quiet weather of Finland. The most surprising things for me are the hot temperature of summer in Finland and the fluency of English language in Finnish people. I just love the days I am having here.

What are your hobbies in Tampere? Have you tried out any new hobbies since coming here?

Yes I have tried a new hobby which is "writing for myself". I'm writing my own stories and experience in a notebook and I think it has been really helpful for me.

What kind of student activities have you participated in?

I have been selected as Student Ambassador, where I will be answering questions to potential future students of Tampere University. Besides, I have been a member of student union and my guild TiTe where I do attend in meetings, saunas and different programs like these.

What would you say to someone who's trying to decide whether Tampere is the right place to come to study and live?

I would say that Tampere is one of the best student friendly city in the whole world. There is no language barrier, lots of student fun activities besides studies, and of course a plethora of job opportunities during and after completing any degree. And I would encourage them to come here in Tampere for studying and living.

What is your favourite thing about the student culture in Finland?

I have many favorite things here, to list a few: Tampere has a fantastic public transportation system including a new tram, people are friendly, I am studying something that I really enjoy and I have many opportunities for activities like going to the gym or playing games.
